Iris setosa (Native Flags)

No Photo Available

Native iris, extremely hardy and very popular but this is the DWARF FORM. Makes tight mounds of 6-inch-tall medium blue blooms. Spreads nicely reasonably by rhizomes and seed. Be careful: the rhizome can be an irritant.

Plant iris rhizome just below soil surface for best bloom success. Woodland-like conditions for soil works best.

Combine with other natives such as Cornus canadensis or any of the spring-blooming Primula.
