Dicentra 'Burning Hearts' (Bleeding Heart)

Thumbnail Photo

Magnify

Totally different than the old fashioned bleeding hearts. For one thing it is very short and compact, allowing the heart flowers to peek out above the foliage. The foliage, almost blue and fern-like is another big difference. The best difference is it blooms all summer and into the fall. The romantic heart-shaped flowers are still the same only in a very dark red. WOW!

Combine with Anemone sylvestris, Ajuga 'Black Scallop' or any of the early spring bulbs.
