Gaillardia aristata 'Arizona Red Shades' (Blanket Flower)

Like a pin wheel, these daisy-like flowers have a center of deep burgundy-red, and the petals are red with just a tinge of yellow at the outside edges. Gaillardia can be a challenge to overwinter in our short summers. They bloom right until freeze up and don?t get ?ready? for winter. In late summer cut the plant down to about 6 inches to encourage new basil growth hopefully to help overwinter. This particular gaillardia is advertised to be hardy to zone 2. Hmmm Priced to experiment.
