Select Alaska Hardy® Perennials, Page 1

We have singled out a number of our top Alaska Hardy Perennials we think demand a place in your garden, which are profiled over the next 7 pages. The plants are listed by botanic name from A to Z.

We've worked hard to provide the most accurate and complete information possible. Still, because of the immense size of our great land, the vast differences in elevations and the many microclimatic conditions, we can't guarantee information fits every situation. We appreciate and welcome your input and experiences.

If you find a plant or two you'd like for your garden, you can order from us by phone at (907) 235-4969, or by fax at (907) 235-8116. We suggest you print our handy Order Form and use it to fill out your order. Please refer to our Order Page for ordering instructions. If you wish, we'd be happy to mail you a printed catalog/price list. Request one here.

Note for 2008: Please note that prices are now $6.00 for 4-inch size containers, $8.25 for 6-inch pots and $9.25 for one-gallon sized containers. All of our perennial plant pages will be updated shortly with new information and will be much more comprehensive. Thank you and happy gardening!

We grow two species. Whether you like the shorter A. alpina or prefer the taller A. mollis, you'll love how this fast-growing Chartreuse-color lady's mantle looks after a rain. Water beads around the lacy leaf margins and shines and shimmers like silver. You can grow her in sun or partial shade, and she tolerates drought quite nicely.

Zone: 3.
Location:Sun Partial
Height: 18 inches (A. alpina,6 inches).
Price: $5 and $7.50 each.

Aquilegia - (Columbine)

Beginning gardeners love this one because it is so easy to grow and spreads nicely. Beware though as colors/varieties will cross if planted close. So many colors, so many varieties, so hard to choose.

Zone: 3.
Location:Sun Shade
Height: range from 6 inches to 36 inches
Price: $5 and $7.50

Artemesia (Wormwood)

‘Silver Mound’ (pictured) can’t be beat for a knot garden, rock garden, or combine its tightly mounded clump of soft silver foliage with sedum. Taller varieties of artemesia tend to be aggressive but still worth a place in your gardens. Slightly aromatic (moose don’t eat), up to 30 inches tall, silver or silver and white variegated fern-like foliage that covers foliage of spring tulips and daffodils.

Zone: 3-4
Location:Sun
Height: 8 inches to 30 inches
Price: $5.00 and $7.50

Bellis (English Daisies)

We can’t say for sure the variety of bellis we have as they have been in our gardens forever and they definitely don’t match any of the books we have. However, they bloom wonderfully from early summer right into fall, starting bright pink and fading to white. They are great for path borders although you’ll need to thin them out about every 3 years or so.

Zone: 4
Location:Sun Partial
Height:8 inches
Price: $5.oo

Campanula - (Bellflower)

We offer more than 14 different cultivars of Campanula. A short variety, poscharskyana ‘Blue Waterfall’ (pictured) has underground runners that sneak through the rocks to produce dense clumps of bellflowers. Combine with ‘Elijah Blue’ grass for a super display. Persicifolia and peachleaf are taller varieties measuring in at up to 30 inches.

Height: 6 inches to 30 inches depending on variety
Price: $5.00 and $7.50
