Formosa hybrid ‘Ruby Marr’ offers an abundance of blood/ruby-red small flowers on dark green foliage, 10-14 inches, blooms from spring through summer.
D. ‘Macrantha’, a bit different, has yellow flowers. D. spectabilis, an old-fashioned spring greeter in pink or white flowers is outstanding combined with spring bulbs. For a trip down memory lane, combine spectabilis, any of our 24 varieties of iris and ajuga ‘Pink Surprise’. My new favorite is ‘Luxuriant’ with fern-type foliage; a shorter variety, it blooms all summer into fall and is extremely hardy. (pictured)
