Alaska Hardy® Plants for 2008

Winter is not a time of inactivity at Fritz Creek Gardens! We are working now on our plant lineup for the 2008 season. For example, we are adding more than 84 new plants! Of course, we continue to grow many old favorites that deserve a space in your garden. As we firm up our plant list for 2008, we'll post the information below. Check these out!

Top 20 Sellers Looking Back First. Before we move on to look at what's new for 2008, it's fun to take a look back at our achievements over 2007, now that the gardening season is a distant memory. And once again we're posting our Top 20 Sellers for last season. We see the old familiar plants in the Top 20 list, but once again there were a few surprises. If you want to get an idea what was tops in the past, take a look at our 2007 Top 20 Sellers. Do you have any of these in your garden?

Eryngium 'Blue Glitter' New Plants! New Plants! Okay, okay, now you're ready for the good stuff! Our new perennial plants lineup for 2008 is extreme! I stopped counting at 84 new varieties and that doesn't include new Primula, Lilium, vines or Iris.

Check out these handful of featured New Plants for 2008. Although we won't open until mid-April, we just can't resist tempting you with these outstanding goodies! Pictured here is one we're quite excited about, Eryngium planum 'Blue Glitter.' This one is very easy to grow and is perfect for drying. Like what you see? Why not order from us early?

Primula 'Lismore Jewel' Primula Specialists! Primula continues to be our No. 1 seller year after year and there are many reasons for this phenomenon. With more than 600 varieties divided into 23 sections and probably 250 that are good for Alaska gardens, there has to be at least one -- or 10 -- Primula perfect for a spot in your garden. What other genera can boast so many varieties that are great in so many different conditions? They usually are completely disease and pest free. Some love wet areas, some are great in rock gardens, while some bloom in early spring and others late into fall. And for sizes, the sky is the limit -- from tiny two-inch ones to the taller candelabra types. Take a look at our Primula Pages. Fritz Creek Gardens is proud to offer so many different Primula for 2008. Be sure to order early; many will sell out very fast.

Lilium 'Martagon' Garden Lilies for 2008. Lilies have been around forever and there are many good reasons why they deserve a spot in your garden. For 2008 we have expanded our lily selections to offer 23 Asiatic hybrids, 15 L.A. hybrids, a Double Tigrinium and one Martagon variety (pictured at right). Be sure to check out our Garden Lilies Pages for more on these beauties!

Hardy Roses. There's nothing like success and that is exactly what has happened to our Alaska Hardy® Zone 2 and 3 rose selections. Take a look at the 40-plus varieties of these old-fashioned garden beauties, in full color with descriptions, on our Roses Page. And we can't wait to show you what we're adding for 2008.

Hardy Vines. Fritz Creek Gardens is pleased to offer a growing selection of vines, ideal for many garden situations. We grow hardy kiwi, American bittersweet, many outstanding varieties of clematis and much more.

Shrubs and Trees. Coming soon will be pages that feature our great lineup of beautiful shrubs and trees for 2008. We've ventured into new territory here and are experiencing good success with varieties seldom, if ever, grown in Alaska. We've worked hard to locate larger, more mature trees for instant gratification at reasonable prices. I hope all of our efforts will assist you in making decisions.
