The Low Down on Our Ground Cover Sale

Sedum kamchaticum

Every year we have our first sale of the season over the 4th of July holiday weekend. But we couldn't figure out when that weekend was, since the 4th this year was on a Wednesday, so we're having it now through Thursday, July 12. That should do it! All ground covers are on sale -- buy three and the fourth one is free. There are tons of plants that qualify as ground covers. If you have our plant list, look down that column. We will have a full current list of what is available at the greenhouse.

Meanwhile, to whet your appetite, here are a few featured ground covers we have in stock. Remember, buy three and get the fourth one absolutely free!

Sedum kamtschaticum is a great plant (photo top right) that has evergreen bright green foliage and bright orange flowers. It is easy to grow in almost any soil. Drought tolerant.

Cerastium tomentosa

Cerastium tomentosum (right photo) is another easy-to-grow plant providing midsummer-blooming borders. A little fluffing in the spring assures a display of beautiful pure-white flowers against silver foliage for up to six weeks.

Phlox 'Candy Stripes' Phlox 'Candy Stripes' is another ground cover that we are proud to feature on our sale. Shown here along our hosta walk, 'Candy Stripes' is sweet enough for most any garden. This one is by far my favorite phox -- well, today it is anyway!

Pulmonaria 'Trevi Fountain'

Pulmonaria 'Trevi Fountain' (photo at right) provides a fantastic border that has something to offer for the full gardening season. When the bright blue flowers are exhausted, the silver-spotted foliage stays crisp and beautiful for the remainder of the season. Although the tag says part shade, we grow it here in Alaska in full sun quite successfully.

Lamium Lamium along the path to our bridge. Included in our ground cover sale. Whether you prefer 'Orchid Frost' or 'Purple Dragon', this foliage plant spreads quickly, cascading over containers or scampering in your garden.
